Scientific and Technical Background Complements ASI's High-end Engineering Analysis Capabilities

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – August 23, 2007 –Analytical Services, Inc. (ASI) today announced that Dr. Thomas Powell joined the company's aerospace engineering division as a senior scientist. In his role, Dr. Powell will be assisting in the advancement of several NASA initiatives and providing added capabilities in the area of radiation hardening and modeling and simulation. Previously, Dr. Powell was with BAE Systems where he performed analytical and numerical work on missile defense simulation, debris characterization, and hypersonic missile concepts. Prior to BAE Systems, Dr. Powell spent over twenty years performing analytical and numerical work on the following: anti-missile and anti-satellite missile trajectories, blast waves, decoy/warhead discrimination, interior and exterior ballistics, initiation of explosives, thermodynamics, gas dynamics of chemical-propellant nuclear rockets, the trans-Neptunian planet problem, satellite defense, single-stage orbital rockets, attitude motion, trajectory prediction, trajectory determination, determination of missile characteristics, heliocentric orbit prediction, and solar sail dynamics and control.
